African Pride Olive Oil Miracle Product Review on Natural Hair Texture
The Mommy 365
It had been about 10 years since I last used a styling cream or moisturizer made by African Pride. While the product name is totally designed to target black hair types it isn’t a black-owned brand.
I purchased the African Pride Olive Oil and Tea Tree Growth Oil and their Olive Oil Miracle Daily Hydration Lotion. They were both priced under $8. I used the oil a week before my shampoo day on my hair and my little girl’s hair. It smells great and did a great job sealing in my Mielle Organics Pomegranate and Honey leave-in conditioner.

To complete my shampoo day I used my normal Nizoral shampoo, Aussie Miracle Moist, and my Wetline Xtreme hair gel. I did not use the VO5 this time around, but it is an amazing detangler for thick and unruly hair. You can apply a ton of it for good slip without one worry about the price. It’s always priced less than $2 in most stores.

I decided to use the “olive miracle hydration lotion” as my styler. This is not what the product specified, but this is what I do with most of the products that I purchase. It works about 90% of the time. Initially, it smelled good, but somewhere along the way the change smelled and I almost could not stomach it. My husband on the other hand thought that it smelled good in my hair.
The product was really watery and did not do the best job in moisturizing my low porosity hair. I had to use a lot of the “daily hydration lotion” to properly coat my stands and I still did not feel any slip on my hair.
While I appreciate the price point for these two products I could not settle for the dull look that it left on my hair. I will not use it again as a styler or pair it with my Wetline Xtreme hair gel. I may be able to use it as a blow-dry moisturizer in the future, but as of right now it’s going into the back of my cabinet.
The “olive and tea tree growth oil” worked well and as I stated before, it smells so good! I will continue to use it with other styles and products. I hope this review has been helpful! Leave a comment below if you have used any African Pride products. What were your results?
