22 Things That You Can Really Accomplish While Your Baby Naps

The most repetitive advice that I received from other moms when my first child was born was to sleep when my baby sleeps. That works for the first six or so weeks and only when you have one child. When you actually begin to feel your best again you will want to feel productive around your home and with your own goals.

I’m a realist with a mountain size of faith, but I really want you to know that it is impossible to get some things done when your baby is sleeping. Cleaning your whole house is one thing that I would not advise you to attempt to do, but I have a few other things that you can get done in a snap and begin to feel productive again.

  1. Take a long and relaxing shower.
  2. Read a few chapters in your favorite book.
  3. Complete a load of laundry.
  4. Listen to a podcast.
  5. Shave your (anything) because we all know you’ve rushed through a few showers.
  6. Watch an episode of your favorite shows.
  7. Take a nap.
  8. Read a devotional and pray.
  9. Organize your pantry.
  10. Prep or prepare dinner.
  11. Text a friend…, but turn your ringer off.
  12. Get dressed for the day.
  13. Work out!
  14. Relax with a cup of tea, coffee, or hot cocoa.
  15. Paint your nails or toes.
  16. Pin your favorite pins on Pinterest.
  17. Revamp your resume.
  18. Clean one room in your home.
  19. Sort and shred mail.
  20. Start a blog or a social media blog.
  21. Write in a journal.
  22. Brainstorm for the future…write out a plan.
  23. Rest!

Whatever you decide to do don’t be too hard on yourself or your body. Go at your own pace and make sure that you peep in on your sleeping baby or toddler.

  1. Hi! I believe #12 is very important , it was for me, because it’s so easy to become absorbed in caring for your baby that you forget you! It also helps to bring your spark back if you are experiencing a bit of postpartum depression. Thanks for sharing!
