Hey y’all! I try my best to avoid being a product junkie, but because of my hair’s extremely thick texture, I tend to go through my styling products rather fast. I love finding great products that are affordable but have quality ingredients. During a recent trip to Sally’s Beauty Supply, I found a BOGO deal on the ORS: Curls Unleashed Product Line. I paid about $9.99 for two different styling products. Both products are sulfate and paraben free.
The ORS: Curls Unleashed Leave-In Conditioning Creme is made with Cocoa and Shea Butter. It had great slip when I was applying it to my hair and I used a generous amount with each section of hair while applying. The smell wasn’t outstanding. It smelled like a hair product. I’m kind of use to many of the natural hair products smelling like something edible, so I guess that took me back a tad bit. The first time that I used this product, I used it to style my hair in a twist out. After my hair was completely dry, I untwisted and styled. I noticed that the leave-in conditioning creme left a small amount of residue in my hair. I was disappointed, but as always I knew that I could tweak it to make it work. I hate to waste money and I don’t give up too easily. Day 2 I decided to put oil in my hair before using the leave-in conditioning creme. Duh! I should’ve done that before, but I was thinking….conditioner, I shouldn’t need anything extra. Applying the oil before the creme worked amazingly. My hair was still soft and there were no flakes. I’ll say the leave-in conditioning creme is a thumbs up for me.
The ORS: Curls Unleashed Curl Boosting Jelly is made with aloe vera and honey. The smell was a little more pleasant than the leave-in conditioning creme, kind of subtly sweet. The curl boosting jelly really made my thick kinks and curls pop! The slip is amazing and I didn’t have to use too much product for my twist out. I do believe that if I would have done a wash’n go, I would’ve had to use a lot more product. Before applying the jelly, I applied a little of my OGX coconut serum to my hair. Once my hair was completely dry, I untwisted and applied a little oil. My hair was very defined and shiny. I’m not sure if it was from the jelly or the serum. Both products are super moisturizing. I did have some major residue on my fingernails and it would not come off from a simple hand wash. A few days later, I decided to shampoo and reuse the curl boosting jelly with the leave-in conditioning creme as a base. This time my hair looked dry, dull, and the residue returned once again. To add insult to a dull looking hairstyle, my nails had that same yucky residue caused by the product. I had to use an alcohol pad to remove the residue from my nails. The curl boosting jelly is a thumbs down for me.
Have you tried any of the products from the Curls Unleashed line? If so, let me know what your results were.
